Billy

Serving Up the Rock

On December 19 and 20, 2003, Billy Livesay played and sang in the house band for a South Florida event called Serving Up the Rock, a combination tennis tournament and concert benefiting a charity called Here's Help, which provides help for families suffering through drug addiction. The event was created by Kansas drummer Phil Ehart and tennis pro Craig Wittus, who believe that tennis and rock n' roll go hand in hand.

This year the event will be held on November 17 2007at the Westin Diplomat Hotel on Hollywood Beach , FL and benefit pediatric diabetes. Billy will be backing up some of the artist from the original series including: Steve Augeri (lead singer from Journey), David Jenkins (Pablo Cruise) and Mickey Thomas (Starship).

Live Recording with Bruce Springsteen

"Live In Asbury Park, Volume 2" - was released January 6th, 2004: a follow-up to 2003 Clarence Clemons album, "Live In Asbury Park." This CD features a rare live performance by the Boss himself - Bruce Springsteen on the song "Raise Your Hands", an old Soul song written by Steve Cropper. This is the first time the Boss has ever appeared as a lead vocalist on a recording project other than his own.

"Live In Asbury Park, Volume 1"
"Live In Asbury Park, Volume 2"

Clarence Clemons CD "Live In Asbury Park" released Nov 5, 2002, and Billy Livesay has a song on it entitled "Heat Of A Full Moon". "Live In Asbury Park, was recorded in Asbury Park New Jersey in August 2001. The engineer for the recordings was Toby Scott who recorded Bruce Springsteens "Live in New York" and nominated for an Emmy award for the HBO special of the same name. Bruce Springsteen joined the band on stage for raucous renditions of "Pink Cadillac", "Raise Your Hands", "Mustang Sally" and "Glory Days". "Raise Your Hands is featured on "Live In Asbury Park, Volume 2".

The last night of the shows was equally inspiring , but just before Bruce jumped on stage with Bon Jovi drummer Tico Torres , there was a BOMB SCARE!!!!!!!! Can you believe it ?? The scare sent the celebrities running at the advice of security , never to be seen again . After a 20 min break the band came back and "ROCKED" the house.

THE LIVESAYS NEW RECORDINGS!

Billy is back in the studio recording a bunch of new songs... stay tuned for more information.

"Terror in the Neighborhood", Billy's intense diatribe against gun violence, has found the ear of Stop the Violence President John Carroll. Carroll has linked it to their website and hopes to use it for future PSA's. The Livesays have also volunteered their musical services to perform at events, benefiting the national organization.

Singer/Songwriter Takes a Look at Violence Close to Home

"Terror in the neighborhood listen up son
The sheep are in the fields and the shepherds got a gun
go tell your friends this message you’ve been given
the choice they make could seal their dreams and visions
why oh why did he shoot that man
If he can’t tell us maybe the gun can"

Billy Livesay, "Terror in the Neighborhood," 2000

When singer/songwriter Billy Livesay, read about the Lake Worth Middle School teenager who shot his teacher, he got emotional.... emotional enough to write a song. Says Livesay, "not only was the teacher's life over but so was the kid's. It seemed like such a terrible waste, and it hit so close to home"

With a son of his own, Billy started taking a deeper look at the violence in homes and schools. About 6 months ago, he wrote, "Stranger In My House," a song that examines the pain of a physically abused adolescent. Billy performed the song at University of Miami's, Music Therapy Class, and to a mesmerized audience at Songwriters In the Round.

Billy read about the violence in the Florida schools. Fueled by his own feelings regarding the availability of guns, he wrote, "Terror in the Neighborhood." Says Livesay, "When I was 16 I found my stepfather's gun, hidden in a closet. Anything could have happened at that moment, I could have accidentally hurt myself or someone else."

Livesay hopes that his personal reflections will reach some of his fans, and their kids as well. An MP3 of "Stranger in my House," can be download directly from this website by clicking here.
